Innovator
The Innovator accreditation by the World STEM Federation (WSF) is awarded to schools demonstrating competency in STEM education. This introductory standard of recognition highlights institutions that have successfully incorporated STEM methodologies and technologies, significantly elevating student engagement and learning. As the first step in WSF’s multi-tier accreditation system, Innovator schools are celebrated for pioneering new approaches in STEM education, setting a benchmark for educational excellence and creativity in this vital field.
Leader
The ‘Leader’ level stands as a progressive second stage in the WSF STEM School accreditation process, embodying a school’s evolution and commitment to STEM excellence. Building upon the ‘Innovator’ foundation, ‘Leader’ schools demonstrate a deeper integration of STEM disciplines with enhanced project complexity, fostering leadership qualities and a collaborative spirit among students. This level marks a school’s transition from foundational practices to a more sophisticated, influential role in STEM education.
Premier
As the third tier in the WSF STEM School accreditation journey, the ‘Premier’ standard of accreditation signifies an advanced status where schools are not just participants but trendsetters in STEM education. ‘Premier’ schools showcase expert curriculum development, engage in strategic industry partnerships, and offer state-of-the-art facilities. This prestigious level indicates a school’s dedication to producing students who are ready to make significant contributions to the STEM fields globally.
Excellence
The ‘Excellence’ standard of accreditation represents the zenith of the WSF STEM School accreditation program, reserved for schools that have achieved unparalleled success in STEM education. These institutions are beacons of innovation, with alumni shaping the future of technology and science. Attaining the ‘Excellence’ standard reflects a school’s leadership in global STEM initiatives, influencing education policies, and setting new benchmarks for educational practices worldwide.
WSF Accreditation Requirements for Schools and Institutions
Schools / Institutions must provide a brief document outlining their STEM programme, covering:
- Programme goals and its role in student development.
- Curriculum & Teaching Methods: The subjects & topics covered, the instructional strategies used, (e.g. hands-on/ project-based learning).
- Implementation of STEM Education as a part time vocational / club activity or a fully integrated activity.
- STEM Assessment Evaluation Method.
- Student Involvement: Mention any extracurricular activities or competitions.
- Innovations: Share any unique practices and future plans for the programme.
This document should give a clear and simple overview of how your STEM programme works, alignment with standards, and its impact on students.
Schools are required to upload either photos or a detailed description of their STEM lab setup to provide insight into the learning environment where STEM education is delivered. The document should include:
- Visuals or Layout Description: Clear photos of the STEM lab, workstations arrangement, equipment, & tools. If photos are unavailable, the written description required are – i) layout of the lab, ii) the key areas iii) how they are organized.
- Equipment and Tools: Mention the – i) lab equipment & tools used for STEM activities including computers, robotics kits, 3D printers, science experiment kits, or other technology.
- Workstations and Student Interaction: Detail the workstation design for hands-on learning and collaboration, including photos of student-setup interactions during STEM projects.
- Safety and Accessibility: Describe how safety and accessibility are ensured in the lab, including features like fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and design elements for all students.
This document helps the evaluation team understand the environment in which your school delivers STEM education and the resources available to students for practical learning.
Schools must submit a document listing key faculty members in the STEM program, detailing their academic and professional qualifications. The document should include:
- Faculty Names: The full names of all faculty members who are part of the STEM programme.
- Qualifications: Each faculty member’s academic qualifications, certifications, and specialized STEM training (e.g., Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD) and other relevant certifications (e.g., professional certifications in STEM fields).
- Experience: Years of teaching, experience with specific technologies/methodologies, or prior relevant STEM specific experience.
- Role Details (Optional): You can include the specific role or responsibility each faculty member holds within the STEM programme (e.g., head of the robotics club, science coordinator, etc.)
The information provided will help assess the expertise and capabilities of the teaching staff, ensuring they meet the standards required for delivering quality STEM education.
Schools must upload a document stating the STEM-related competitions & student participations. This document should include:
- Name & Details: List the competition’s full name, the exact date/date-range during which it took place and venue (physical or virtual).
- Participation and Achievements (Optional but recommended): Schools can optionally include students’ participation, achievements, or awards details of the competition, providing additional context on their STEM programme’s impact.
This document helps WSF evaluate the school’s involvement in promoting STEM activities through competitions, as well as the level of student engagement and achievement.
WSF Accreditation for Level 3 (Premier School) and Level 4 (Excellence School) will only be granted if the applicant school has already been pre-accredited by WSF for the preceding levels.
Schools that are currently accredited by WSF are required to upload a copy of their Pre-Accreditation Certificate issued by WSF. This certificate contains the school’s official WSF Accreditation Membership Number and serves as proof of the school’s accreditation status.
This document is necessary for WSF to verify your existing accreditation and ensure proper tracking of your membership. Schools applying for renewal or a new accreditation level must provide this certificate to confirm their prior accreditation.
Process to Apply
Step 1: Registration
Register on the WSF Accreditation Application link by clicking the “Join Now”
- Create an account with email, institutional and contact details.
- Verify your account through a confirmation email sent to your registered address.
Step 2: Complete the Application Form
You will be directed to the application form. Provide all current institutional & leadership details.
- Institutional Data: Name, address, year of establishment, and type of institution.
- Leadership Details: Key leadership figures, such as the Principal, Head of STEM, and other relevant leaders.
Step 3: Upload Required Documents
Each section in the application will specify what documents are needed. Ensure that the files are labeled clearly:
- Overview of the STEM Programme
- Photos or Descriptions of the STEM Lab Setup
- Faculty Details (Name and Qualification)
- Competition Details (Name, Date, and Location)
- Pre-Accreditation Certificate (if applicable)
You will have the option to upload multiple files for each section if necessary.
Step 4: Provide Consent to Disclaimers
In this step, applicants are required to review and acknowledge several key points before submitting their application:
- Accuracy of Information: By proceeding, applicants confirm that all the information and documents provided are accurate, truthful, and complete to the best of their knowledge.
- Privacy and Data Protection: Applicants acknowledge that WSF will handle all data in accordance with its Privacy and Data Protection Policy. This policy ensures the secure and responsible use of the data submitted through the application process.
- Use of Data: By submitting the application, applicants grant WSF the right to use the submitted data for processing the application, as well as for analytics and market intelligence purposes. This helps WSF improve its accreditation services and provide deeper insights into educational trends.
- Consent for Communication: Applicants give permission to WSF to contact them via email and SMS regarding the status of their accreditation application, as well as to receive occasional marketing and communication materials related to WSF’s services, updates, and events.

Step 5: Submit the Application
After reviewing all the provided information and documents, you can submit your application. Once submitted, no changes can be made to the form or documents.
Step 6: Pay the Requisite Fees
Pay the accreditation fees associated with the level you have applied for.
- You will be redirected to the payment portal; complete the transaction.
- The submission will only be considered finalized after the successful payment of the fees.
On payment confirmation, your application will be officially submitted for review by the WSF Accreditation team.
Step 7: Access to Personal Dashboard
Post the completion of application and the payment of requisite fees, applicants can access their personal dashboard to manage all details related to their WSF accreditation. The following items will be available on the dashboard:
- WSF Communications: Any updates, notifications, and messages from WSF regarding the accreditation process.
- Accreditation Certificates: Digital copies of the accreditation certificates awarded to the school.
- Badges and Insignias: Digital badges and insignias for use in marketing and communication materials to showcase the school’s accreditation status.
- Payment Records and Invoices: Full payment history, (invoices for accreditation fees and application related other financial transactions).
The personal dashboard allows applicants to easily track and manage their accreditation status, ensuring quick access to all relevant documents and communication from WSF.
